The features:
1)Double Wall Construction:
Fume Hood sides shall be of double walled construction to enclose structure, service piping, sash mechanism, electrical wiring, air flow monitor etc. With suitably designed removable covers to provide access for inspection and maintainance. All side panels shall be removable. The structural design shall be such as to avoid load on end panels.
2)Material of Construction
The material of construction for Fume Hood interior is 4mm thickness of Compact.
Work Surface is 12.7 mm Wilsonart Protector.
3)Sash: Fume Hood have vertical sliding clear safety glass sash of 6mm thickness. The sash is operated in rope over ball bearing pulleys. When in closed position, the sash rest on top of the bottom airfoil and when fully raised, a clear height of open face is 750 mm. An additional view panel of 250mm above sash is provided. There is a provision of cable manager below the sash. For LCD hood, the sash is combination of horizontal & vertical sliding.
4) Noise & Face Velocity
Noise: ≤ 60dB (international standard). The exhaust system, consisting of existing exhaust blower and PP-FRP ducting fixed on the terrace, should be connected with the fume hood. The exhaust system maintains an average velocity of 0.5 m/ second throught open face of the sash. All the fittings/baffles are used accordingly in the connection of the system.
5)Utilities
The PP cup sink with one way wall type water outlet installed in the hood. 'Kerric' Brand of full-copper water outlet which is special lab purpose water tap, the valve core adopts international general porcelain core and its surface is treated by epoxy resin powder spraying. The PP cup sink and drain are of the approved ability by the Engineer-In-Charge. The drainpipe from the sink is of 2' size and is laid till the main drain below the hood.
6)Taps and Control Valves:
There shall be a provision for water, compressed and vacuum taps. All the three taps shall be controlled from outside. The controls shall be on left of Fume Hood.
The supply shall include 2 mtr of flexible pressure tubing of 1/2' dia and 12 kg/cm2 pressure rating, for connection to laboratory service lines. On end of the tubing shall be joined to the tap using a cramped 1/2' BSP size nut ( similar to pressure hose) and the other end to the header line by another cramped nut. Three numbers of such arrangements are required for air, water & vacuum.
7)Light: 30w fluorescent lamp, at least 300LUX.
8)Air exhausting cover: 10 inch outlet.
9)Modularity:
The Fume Hood is designed in such a way that it can be assembled or disassembled easily. It shall be made preferably in two parts eg. Upper Unit & Lower Unit.
